The YMCA of Greater San Antonio and Camp Flaming Arrow work hard to ensure that we uphold the YMCA Mission: To put Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. One way is through the Y Partners Open Door scholarship program. Whether you are able to donate or you need a little help affording the cost of camp, you to can be a part of this great program. How can I help more children "Catch the Spirit" of Camp?

YMCA Camp Flaming Arrow challenges individuals, families and groups to grow in Spirit, Mind and Body.  A resident camp experience at YMCA Camp Flaming Arrow is fun, exciting and adventurous!  Resident camp is also much, much more.   We believe camp is a magical place where values are acquired, relationships built and new skills learned.  From the moment campers arrive they are welcomed, appreciated and cherished.  All camp activities are designed to build self-esteem, promote cooperation, and model healthy relationships through programs centered on the YMCa Core Values.  CFA prides itself on many things like exciting activities, beautiful location, and excellent staff; however, our true pride is our focus on the YMCA Character values that transcend the camp session supplementing the values taught at home. YMCA Camp Flaming Arrow is firmly committed to providing a quality program in a safe environment for each camper allowing them to leave camp with new friends, increased self-confidence and memories that last a lifetime! 

In our efforts to continue the YMCA's goal to provide programs for those who need the services and can not afford them, financial investments from the community are imperative.  The YMCA's annual fundraising campaign is geared to provide scholarship dollars for children and families with need.  Through the Y-Partners campaign, your donations help provide financial assistance to children and families that might not be able to afford a YMCA resident camp experience. 

We ask for your involvement in providing opportunities for those in need when a volunteer contacts you.  Invest in your YMCA and you invest in your community.  Your gift will help people “Catch the Spirit of Camp” at YMCA Camp Flaming Arrow. Take this opportunity to make a difference.

The cost for 1 week of summer camp is $605. Every donation, no matter the amount, is truly appreciated. Please consider sending a child or teen to camp this summer through your donation to our Open Door Scholarship fund. If you have any questions or concerns, call 1-800-765-9622.

Youth in Philanthropy - Youth can make a difference too!

Have you been a camper? Have you had a great time at camp? Ever wonder how you can help others enjoy camp too? Whether you are 8 or 18, you too can make a big difference in the lives of other kids! The Y Partners Open Door program is geared to help others who can not afford the entire tuition attend camp.If you are interested in helping earn money to send other kids to camp, have your parents call us at camp and we will help you plan your strategy for raising money. Read below for an example of how a camper and her family raised money for other kids. Maddy was able to help send 3 kids to camp in 2007!

CFA Youth Receives Award! One of our most heart warming stories for the 2007 Campaign comes from a 8 year old camper named Maddy. Maddy, along with her mother, mailed letters to friends and family requesting that they help by donating. Maddy choose to send her letters on butterfly paper because as she explained,"You go to camp a caterpillar and you leave a butterfly." Maddy then followed up with a hand written thank you letter to all her donors. Due to her efforts, the YMCA of Greater San Antonio and Camp Flaming Arrow presented her with the Youth in Philanthropy award. Maddy and her mother raised over $1000 in 2007! Way to go Maddy! She is already planning her 2008 plan of attack for raising even more money!

D.O.G. for President: In 2007, D.O.G. campaigned to become the first four legged president by earning enough Y Partners money to help kids attend camp!  As we prepare for summer 2008, we once again begin our Y Partners campaign to raise money for camper scholarships.

What is the President’s Club? Any donor of $600-$999 becomes a member of the President’s Club. Our President and CEO, Baron Herdelin-Doherty, might have a hard time bringing D.O.G. to the President’s lunch, but we’re sure a special treat can be arranged-like his very own ice cream! Buy your D.O.G. now! Buy your very own D.O.G. mini me! We only have 600 dolls, so don't miss out! The first lot will have numbered tags so you know you have an official first order dog! A portion of all proceeds will be placed in our Y Partners Scholarship Fund! We expect to have the doll in hand by Summer Camp. You can purchase your doll and have it waiting for your camper on opening day!

While D.O.G. for president is a way for the campers to be involved, parents are asked to give in support of sending another child to camp. So we urge you to think of others and give enough to send a child to camp; however, no amount is too small.

Camper "Open Door" Scholarships

The YMCA of Greater San Antonio & YMCA Camp Flaming Arrow is firmly committed to providing a quality program in a safe environment for each child. As a nonprofit organization, we are acutely sensitive to maximizing resources in order to provide the best possible program for a reasonable cost to participants.

Many times working families need help in paying for recreational activities including summer camp. The YMCA's annual fundraising campaign is geared to provide scholarship dollars for families with need. Each family is asked to complete a scholarship application which is then evaluated. The evaluation if this application determines the awarded financial assistance amount.  All applicants are required, at minimum, to pay 25% of the tuition.

How do I apply for a Scholarship?

Request for scholarship applications are accepted between January 1st and May 20th (or while funds remain). There are 3 ways to request an application:

2. Call camp at 1-800-765-9622 and ask for a scholarship application. We just need your name, mailing address and phone number to send the paperwork.
