The first Downtown YMCA facility was opened in 1971 at 903 N. St. Mary's St. Throughout the 1970's women were allowed to join the YMCA and then in 1982 the women's locker rooms were expanded.
In 1985, a comprehensive co-ed Nautilus/Aerobics center was completed at the Downtown YMCA.

Throughout the 90's, the Downtown YMCA collaborated with area Colleges to provide job readiness skills such as negotiating and problem solving, communication, table manners, employment expectations in dress and demeanor as well as resume preparation and presentation.  A training and multi-purpose center was constructed in 1996. This listed over 200 partnering organizations. In 1999 the first phase of a major remodeling project began and a state-of-the art computerized fitness machines were installed for the ready to be fit market.

TriPoint opened June 1, 2009.
