The YMCA of Greater San Antonio offers our active older adults an opportunity to increase their physical activity, enjoy social interaction, and learn healthy lifestyle skills. A variety of programs are offered at each branch, promoting the benefits of health and wellness. 

SILVER SNEAKERS

Silver Sneakers is a program that allows our older adults to take charge of their health by participating in physical activities. Classes offer our seniors low impact and joint friendly sessions involving cardio, flexibility, strength training, and coordination exercises. Light weights, elastic tubing, and stability balls are incorporated with an opportunity for modification based on ability. Schedules vary by branch.  Classes are FREE for members

Some insurance providers will cover a Senior's monthly membership fees as a preventative health benefit. Consult your provider to find out if you qualify.



Active Older Adult Classes

Group exercise classes are designed for the active older adult, those recovering from injury or illness, or those brand new to fitness. Our seniors can choose from a variety of programs designed to increase muscular strength, mobility, and endurance for daily living activities.

SilverSneakers CardioCircuit®

Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper body strength work with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball is alternated with non-impact aerobic choreography. A chair is offered for support, stretching and relaxation exercises.

ZUMBA® GOLD

A perfect blend of Latin dance aerobics designed for the active older participant, as well as those just getting started.

SilverSneakers YogaStretch®

YogaStretch® will move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance, and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises and a final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity.
