The modern day Ciclovía originated in Bogotá, Colombia 30 years ago. Bogotá began their program with 8 miles of open streets. Ciclovía was so popular, today, they open over 70 miles of car-free streets to their citizens and connect city parks to provide green spaces for Reclovías.
"My son, Ian, has always been an indoors kids. Our backyard is small, so he grew up more around books and computers than playgrounds and fields. Recently, our entire family started getting healthier - eating right and exercising. In the past Ian didn't like to run around because it made him dizzy. But, by developing healthy habits and with a little encouragement, he has completed 6 kids' fun runs. For Síclovía he brought his scooter, and rode it from Lions Field to the Alamo and back again with a rest or want to stop. He proclaimed it -The BEST day ever! We are looking forward to making Síclovía a family tradition!" —Gabriel Oviedo
B-cycle joined San Antonio to celebrate Síclovía with spectacular success! B-cycle was happy to support Síclovía in its shared mission in promoting fun community interaction and active transportation that is healthy both for you and the environment. B-cycle was a dominant force at Síclovía as hundreds of people used B-cycle to navigate downtown while simply having a great time.— San Antonio B-cycle | October 2013 Newsletter
