Walzem Family YMCA

About Us

The Northeast YMCA was formerly created in 1966 and then relocated to Lady Bird Johnson Park in 1984. The Northeast Branch is a program facility that offers a wide range of programs, from Y-School Age, Y-Day Camp and Y-Super Sports. The Northeast YMCA has been recognized as a national leader in the development of the community-based childcare and youth sports.

The Northeast YMCA has an established and growing relationship with the Northeast Independent School District (NEISD) and the Alamo Heights Independent School District (AHISD). Our sports programs are offered seasonally to children of all ages. The Northeast YMCA sports complex offers five soccer fields, two little league baseball fields, a full service concession stand, ample parking and a private pavilion for outdoor events. Sports that are offered through the Northeast YMCA are soccer, volleyball, flag football, basketball, and baseball. Included in our baseball program are t-ball, pitch & tee, coaches pitch and A-AAA leagues. Through our sports programs, we fully implement the YMCA Youth Super Sports goals and objectives.

The Northeast YMCA moved over to a new green building facility on Walzem Rd on February 28, 2011 and officially became the Walzem Family YMCA. The Walzem YMCA is recognized as a "green building" and received a Leeds Silver certification, which designates that a building or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at achieving high performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.
