YMCA of Greater San Antonio

Let's make an impact in our community!

Serving the needs of Greater San Antonio

For 136 years, we have been listening and responding to our community’s most critical social needs, ensuring that everyone has the chance to learn, grow and thrive, regardless of age, income, ability, ethnicity or faith. We focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, and incorporate core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and faith into all we do.

73,479 individuals were positively impacted through Y health & wellness programs – including 50in the medically based Y Living Program that involves the entire family to reduce chronic illness associated with obesity, such as diabetes and cancer.

• The Y is the city’s largest provider of state licensed childcare - over 9,700 school-age children and older youth stayed active and engaged, learning leadership, team-building and critical thinking skills in Y after-school and teen programs, in day and resident camp.

• 692 young children learned new skills that lead to positive behaviors and build self-confidence at five Y Early Learning Centers. Plus 450 teenage and single parents gained important child-rearing knowledge via Precious Minds-New Connections, a YMCA-Kronkosky Foundation initiative.

• Over 24,000 children improved their self-esteem in Sports & Aquatics.

• More than 6,000 active older adults remained energetic and healthy with regular exercise and social activities at the Y.

Over 1,000 youth learned team-building and critical thinking skills, and made memories to last a lifetime at YMCA Camp Flaming Arrow.

• Y Partners Annual Campaign raised $1.4 million in 2012 to fund scholarships for 26,568 individuals who otherwise faced economic barriers to participation. The Y enables all people, from babies to great-grandparents, to learn, grow and thrive.
